Colonel (Col) Theophillus Oswald Afotey Laryea has handed over Command and responsibilities of Forces Pay Regiment (FPR) to Colonel Miki Adusei Nkrumah on Thursday 22 February, 2024.

The outgoing CO, Col Laryea in his handing over speech extended his heartfelt gratitude to the Military High Command for the confidence reposed in him and entrusting FPR into his helm for the period he served in office. He also acknowledged Defence Financial Comptroller (DFC) for the invaluable direction, guidance and steadfast support provided which facilitated his success.

Col Laryea further applauded all personnel for their hard work, commitment to duty, dedication and professionalism. He noted that with their support, FPR has been able to navigate complex financial landscapes, surmounted challenges and achieved milestones that helped set standards for excellence.

He enumerated developments the Unit has seen during his tenure which include the reconstruction of the main Gate, ultra-modern sign posts, Slater Mess Echo, renovation of the Guardroom and Sentry Post. The rest were the introduction of bulk SMS system, extension of Remittance and Booking Group Buildings, construction of training area, squad sheds, 18-Bed Accommodation with a gymnasium at the Slater Mess, 40-Bed Container Accommodation at Beijing Barracks among others.

He congratulated the incoming CO, encouraging him to foster growth in order for the Regiment to continue to thrive. He said the challenges that lay ahead were formidable but emphasised that with collective effort and dedicated personnel, he would be successful.

The Guest of Honour, the Commander, Support Services Command, Brigadier General Salassie Gagakumah applauded the outgoing CO for his tremendous work and achievements. He urged the new CO to build on the achievements of his predecessor and asked for God’s wisdom and protection.

The incoming CO, Col Adusei Nkrumah promised to uphold the integrity of the Regiment and work assiduously to progress the Regiment.
