The United Nations Interim Security Force for Abyei (UNISFA) has continued its commitment to supporting the host community through an organised medical outreach in Abyei town on Friday, 12 September 2025.

The initiative aimed to provide accessible healthcare, raise awareness on preventive medicine, and strengthen bond between UNISFA and the local populace. Troop Contributing Countries from Ghana Level II Plus Hospital and the Nigeria Base Defense Company were the main frontliners of the medical outreach.

According to the Commanding Officer, Nigeria Base Defense Company, Lieutenant Colonel Mukaila Zakari Dikko, he stated that community engagement is crucial in UNISFA’s mandate therefore their presence in Abyei is not only about peacekeeping, it includes building trust and providing humanitarian assistance to the locals.

The Commanding Officer, Ghana Level II Plus Hospital, Naval Captain Kwesi Okumanin Nsaful reiterated UNISFA’s dedication to preventive healthcare, early intervention and collaboration with the host community for a healthier future.

The exercise reinforced the mission’s broader goal of fostering peace, security and development in the Abyei area.
