The President of Guinea-Bissau, HE Umaro Sissoco Embaló has honoured personnel of Ghanaian Company 3 (GHANCOY 3 ) serving with ECOWAS Stabilisation Support Mission in Guinea-Bissau (ESSMGB) for their outstanding service and contribution to peace and security in the country.

The ceremony, which was held at the Presidential Palace on Wednesday 30 July 2025, was in recognition of GHANCOY 3’s professionalism and vital role in safeguarding key national installations including the Presidency and protecting high-profile dignitaries.

The Presidential Advisor and Chief of Staff at the Presidency, Major General Tomas Djassi presented a certificate of merit on behalf of the President to the Combat Team Commander, Lieutenant Colonel Gabriel Mawuli Agboado. The gesture symbolised the President’s appreciation for the Ghanaian peacekeepers’ exemplary execution of the mission. Major General Djassi commended the Ghanaian contingent for their coordination, loyalty and support to the mission. He noted that the tokens presented were more than mere gifts but a symbol of shared commitment to peace and friendship.

Receiving the honours on behalf of the contingent, Lieutenant Colonel Agboado expressed gratitude to the Presidency for the recognition. Also, he reaffirmed the continget’s commitment to the ESSMGB mandate and the government of Guinea-Bissau.

Present at the ceremony were key presidential security officials, including Colonel Benedito Mendes, Commander Sam-Na Bum Nabarra and Major Ali Djata among others.
