The Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) of the Ghana Armed Forces – Major General (Maj Gen) Thomas Oppong-Peprah led a 2-Man delegation to attend the Royal United Service Institute’s (RUSI) Land Warfare Conference in London, United Kingdom (UK), from 26 – 27 June 2023.

The COAS held discussions with the Chief of the General Staff (CGS) of the UK Armed Forces, General Patrick Sanders.

The two Generals deliberated on the threats in the Sahel Region and areas of collaboration between the UK Armed Forces and their Ghanaian counterparts in addressing these threats.

The Delegation was also hosted by Major General Gerald Mark Strickland, the General Officer Commanding 6 Division (UK). It would be recalled that General Strickland visited the COAS at the Ghana Army Headquarters, Burma Camp, on 17 May 2023 to discuss British support for the Accra Initiative.

The COAS also paid a working visit to his Alma Mater, the Royal College of Defence Studies (RCDS), London on Wed 28 Jun 23 to discuss how the College could collaborate with the planned Ghana Armed Forces National College of Defence Studies (NCDS).

He was accompanied by Colonel William Nortey – Chief G3 Operations at the Army Headquarters.
