The ECOWAS Stabilisation Support Mission in Guinea Bissau (ESSMGB) has witnessed a transfer of authority ceremony between Combat Team Commander of GHANCOY 3, Lieutenant Colonel (Lt Col) Gabriel Mawuli Agboado and Combat Team Commander of GHANCOY 4 Lt Col Isaac Keelson Ekow Amoah. The ceremony which was held at the GHANCOY Camp in Guinea Bissau on Friday 1 August 2025, saw the handing over of baton of office between both Commaders, preceded by signing of handing /taking over notes. In his farewell address, Lt Col Agboado wished GHANCOY 4 well while acknowledging other contingents whose cooperation contributed to the success of the Company. He further commended the troops GHANCOY 3 for their sacrifices, dedication, hard work and discipline. The Guest of Honour for the ceremony, Ghana’s Ambassador to the Republic of Guinea-Bissau, H.E Maxwell Awiagah, paid tribute to the Ghana Armed Forces for its record of excellence in Peace Support Operations globally. He recalled the significant contributions of previous GHANCOYs to the stability and economic development of Guinea-Bissau. He further commended the Combat Team Commander, Officers and Soldiers of GHANCOY 3 for making Ghana proud through their tireless efforts at achieving the ECOWAS mandate. He urged personnel of GHANCOY 4 to work hard in order to exceed the high standard set by GHANCOY 3 while keeping the flags of the Ghana Armed Forces and Ghana flying high.
