The Chief of the Defence Staff (CDS), Vice Admiral Seth Amoama, has joined 1 Garrison personnel for a clean-up exercise and medical outreach at Ashaiman Municipality on Friday, 8 December 2023.

The exercise which saw personnel clean streets, open spaces, markets, lorry stations, and gutters to rid the community of filth and improve sanitation was held in collaboration with the National Service Scheme and the Ashaiman Municipal Assembly.

The medical team on the exercise give talks on proper hand washing and personal hygiene, malaria, dental health and pregnancy care. The indigenes were also screened for diabetes and hypertension and medication administered to new cases which would be managed at the One Medical Reception Station (1MRS).

Vice Admiral Amoama commended personnel for their commitment to work and for embracing the clean-up exercise which, he said, would inculcate communal service into the indigenes. He described the military as a friend of the community, hence, the need to demonstrate peace and love especially as the Christmas season approaches.

The Municipal Chief Executive, Ashaiman Municipal Assembly, Mr. Albert Boakye Okyere, appreciated the Military and urged them to continue to render their services to Ghanaians for the good of the country.

Some dignitaries present were Acting Chief of Air staff, Air Commodore Frimpong, Acting Chief of Naval Staff, Commodore Emmanuel Kwafo, Air Vice Marshal Mike Appiah-Agyekum, Deputy Chief of Staff in charge of Administration, Brigadier General Opoku, FOC, ENC, Commodore Maxwell Arhen, and Commander Rear, 1 Infantry Battalion, Lt Col Frank Adams.
