The Directorate of Engineer Services (DES) has organised health walk to promote physical fitness, healthy lifestyle, and build camaraderie among its personnel on Thursday 8 August, 2024. The walk which started from the forecourt of the DES, through Supply Bus Stop ended at the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) Sports Complex where the participants engaged in other sporting activities including aerobics, football, volleyball, sack race, tag of peace, ludo and oware among others. Thereafter, the participants received a health talk, with the leader of the Duala Medical Team, Dr Ewuradwoa Nunoo, sensitising them on Hepatitis B, its transmission, treatment, and prevention, and offered advice on safeguarding against the disease. The team also provided preliminary health screening including, blood pressure, malaria, and sugar testing. The Chairperson of the Programme, Mr Eric Guyiri expressed his gratitude to the Director Engineer Services, Colonel Jonas Wiafe and the personnel of the Directorate for the support, and for making the programme a success, respectively, revealed plans for an annual occurrence.
