

Lieutenant Colonel Philip Tetteh Nartey has been inducted into office as Commanding Officer (CO), 2 Infantry Battalion during a religious service held at the Calvary Methodist Presbyterian Church, Myohaung Barracks, Apremdo on Sunday 10 August 2025.
The event themed “Esprit de Corps is a Force Multiplier”, was attended by personnel of 2 Garrison, corporate representatives, and traditional leaders from Apremdo and nearby communities. Brigadier General Benjamin Godson Kumi-Woode, Director General Religious Affairs of the Ghana Armed Forces, administered the oath of office.
Special Guest, Western Regional Minister Honourable Joseph Nelson, lauded Lieutenant Colonel Nartey for his strong ties with the region and expressed confidence in his ability to work with the Regional Security Council to improve security.
He reminded troops that the CO’s role demanded both professional skill and moral integrity, urging them to give their full support.
Guest of Honour, Western North Regional Minister Honourable Wilbert Petty Brentum, described the phrase Esprit de Corps as a core military value that strengthens collective performance. He encouraged personnel to maintain discipline, loyalty and unity under the new CO.

In his address, Lieutenant Colonel Nartey pledged to foster unity, uphold the standards of the Ghana Armed Forces and lead through teamwork, respect and trust.
He emphasised discipline and respect for authority as guiding principles of his command and thanked the Military High Command, his family and loved ones for their support.
