A 7-member delegation led by the Secretary General of the Australian Ministry of Defence, Dr Arnold Kammel have called on the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), Vice Admiral Seth Amoama to discuss strategic level subjects of common interest to strengthen the bilateral relations between both countries.

The discussion which took place at the office of the CDS in Burma Camp on Monday, 4 December 2023 saw the leader of the delegation, Dr Arnold Kammel indicating that the Australian Government sees Ghana as a reliable partner in efforts aimed at achieving global peace, hence the support to KAIPTC.

He added that the Austrian Government intends to assist with functional constituents of a Dog Unit in all Infantry Units and also extend support to the Special Forces and Engineer Corps of GAF.

 CDS, Vice Admiral Amoama, indicated that Ghana has been chosen by the United Nations to host the International Conference on Peacekeeping Operations first of its kind on the African continent.

He emphasised that the existing relationship between Ghana and Australia, spans over a decade, and expressed appreciation to the Australian Government for its immense support to the Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Training Centre (KAIPTC) and enhancing its excellence. He was also full of gratitude to the Australian Government for seeing to the realisation of the Dog Academy and for rolling out capacity building programmes in Australia for some instructors of the Dog Academy.

CDS presented a plaque to the leader of the delegation, Dr Arnold Kammel who also returned the gesture with a present having the embossment of the Austrian Government.
