UNMISS GH 11 CELEBRATES EASTER IN “BENTIU PARADISE”

The United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS) Ghana Battalion (GHANBATT) 11 has join the world to celebrate Easter at the Battalion Headquarters (BNHQ) in Bentiu.

The series of events which mark the celebration from Friday 29 March to Monday 1 April 2024 saw personnel of the GHANBATT partook in various activities such as church services on Good Friday and Resurrection Sunday as well as fun games between Officers and Warrant Officers on Easter Monday.

During the church services, held on the themes; “Christ Our Example of Suffering” and “Praise the Lord, He is Risen” respectively, troops were presented with the opportunity to refresh their memories on the sufferings of Christ and his ultimate sacrifice for mankind.

On Easter Monday, the Warrant Officers (WOs) hosted Officers in volleyball, badminton, table tennis as well as other board games to foster comradeship.

Senior Warrant Officer Class 2 (SWOII) Nkansah Agnes during a refreshment after the games, remarked that Easter was a season of happiness hence urged all to mark the event in a memorable style. She expressed the need to maintain healthy working relations among all ranks so as to attain the UNMISS mandate.

The Commanding Officer (CO) UNMISS GH 11 Lieutenant Colonel Dominic Ampomah in his closing remarks commended personnel for their professionalism, discipline and dedication to work since GHANBATT insertion in the Mission Area.

Whiles commanding Officers for winning two of the three disciplines played, he noted that the essence of the fun games was to enhance espirit-de-corps and promote unity among personnels. He lauded the Warrant Officers for organizing the event and intimated that the next fun games would be hosted by Officers.
