As part of activities to observe Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the medical team of the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) Ghana Battalion 91 has organised a route march for personnel of the Battalion to inform and create awareness.

The ceremony, under the theme “Stop the Stigma! Be Supportive, No One Should Face Breast Cancer Alone,” took place at the Battalion Headquarters, UNP 5-66, Al Qawzah, Southern Lebanon.

Breast Cancer Awareness Month is an important time to educate troops and others about the disease, which affects millions of women and their families. The programme also gave some personnel the opportunity to undergo screening.

The Commanding Officer of the Battalion, Lieutenant Colonel Isaac Kobe Boako, used the occasion to encourage troops to always take good care of themselves. He also admonished them to avoid stigmatizing friends and family members who, through no fault of their own, have been diagnosed with breast cancer.
