Commanding Officer of the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) GHANBATT 90, Lt Col Frank Kwesi Agyeman has engaged the Mayor of AytaAsh Shaab, Mr Mohammed Srour in Tyre on Monday 01 April, 2024.The meeting was aimed at fostering dialogue and addressing pressing concerns with the community. The Mayor, Mr Srour highlighted its vital role in supporting local communities amidst challenging circumstances. He indicated that joint operations with the Lebanese Armed Forces in the communities would be essential to ensure transparency and prevent any misconceptions about UNIFIL's activities within the region. The aftermath of the cross-border attacks between armed groups in Lebanon and the Israel Defence Forces on 07 October 2023, compelled locals within the battalion's Area of Responsibility to relocate. Amidst these challenges, GHANBATT conducted various CIMIC activities by maintaining consistent communication with local authorities, particularly the Mayor's and Muktars, to ensure the well-being of the displaced populace.
