Southern Command has held its first quarter non-denominational religious parade at the Command Headquarters at Kpeshie Ridge, Teshie on Sunday 03 March, 2024.

The event which brought together personnel, families as well as friends of the Command, under the theme, “The Commandment”, was aimed at committing the command and its activities into the hands of the almighty God and to seek his guidance and favour.

Conducting the Islamic homily and prayer, Imam Nurudeen Quaye preaching from Sura 2:285 admonished troops to remain obedient and follow laid down guidelines and instructions on the job as it could make the difference between a professional soldier and one that is not professional.

He indicated that laid down guidelines are very important in the lives of professional soldiers to guide and guard them in all aspects of their careers.

For his part, the command chaplain, Rev Lieutenant Colonel FO Lokko who preached a sermon from Exodus 20:1-17 and John 2:13-22 entreated troops to seek the face of God in all endeavors and establish personal relations with God for their spiritual upliftment.

He encouraged troops to seek the wisdom of God and also utilize emotional intelligence to be able to maximise productivity both at work and in their private lives. Rev Lokko further advised all present to disentangle themselves from the over indulgence in unsubstantiated prophecies and miracles and concentrate on the faith in God.

In his remarks, the General Officer Commanding (GOC) Southern Command, Brig Gen Samuel Yeboah Asare reiterated the need for troops to maintain a spiritual life and treat it with utmost seriousness, as it could help them navigate through life successfully.

 “My spiritual life has helped me immensely throughout my whole career and I recommend it to you all to take your spiritual lives serious”. He added 

The GOC advised troops to make judicious use of money and desist from acts that may lead them to indebtedness, including gambling and all forms of scam.

He encouraged them to remain professional and alert and deliver their duties proficiently when deployed on any internal security operation, especially as the December general elections approaches.
