Ghana Military Academy (GMA) Regular Career Course 32 (RCC 32) has donated medical equipment worth Three Hundred Thousand Ghana Cedis (GH¢300,000.00) to the Medical Emergency Unit (MEU) of 37 Military Hospital and Medical Reception Station (MRS) of Airborne Force, Tamale.

The equipment includes portable ventilator, cardiac monitors, perfusor pumps, oxygen concentrator, hospital beds and mattresses, wheelchairs, manual sphygmomanometers, mesh nebulizers, pulse oximeters and thermometers were donated to the facilities during a ceremony held at the JBB Asafu-Adjaye Boardroom of the 37 Hospital on Thursday, 23 November 2023.

Speaking at the ceremony the Chief of the Defence Staff (CDS), Vice Admiral Seth Amoama who was the Guest of Honour commended the intake for the gesture. He added that medical centres such as Arakan, Duala and the 37 Military Hospital had benefited from the generosity of the Intake. He indicated that he supported noble cause and therefore called on sponsors and civil organisations to come to the aid of the hospital.

President of RCC 32, Base Commander Air Force Base, Tamale, Air Commodore Joshua Mensah-Larkai said the donation was made in fulfilment of a social project launched by GMA RCC 32 to raise funds to provide essential medical equipment for MEU of the Hospital with the purpose of augmenting the existing equipment and enhancing medicl care delivery to all who access healthcare services.

 He added that the Intake was compelled to come to the aid of the military hospitals since it was the home of all military personnel and their families. He added that the facility continues to offer care and support even in stages beyond human capacity.

“For GMA RCC 32, we embark on this social project knowing that we will leave behind as something unique as supporting our medical personnel in saving lives”. He added.

Commander of the 37 Military Hospital, Brigadier General (Brig Gen) Prosper Ayibor said that the facility provides healthcare to personnel of the Ghana Armed Forces and their families and would continue to serve their health needs during retirement. He thanked CDS, GMA RCC 32, and sponsors including Stanbic Bank, Sahara Oil Company, Guaranty Trust Bank Limited, John Moore Limited, Mrs Yvette Selormey, Hisense Limited, Volta River Aviation and SO Energy for their support.

In attendance were the Defence Attaché to Egypt, Air Commodore Yaw Cole, the Commanding Officer of the Hospital, Colonel (Col) Richard Mensah, the Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) of the Formation, Col Rahinatu Alando, the CNO, Col Patience Owusu Aidoo, Officers of the Formation, senior Officers and invited guests.
