The President and Commander-in-Chief of the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF), Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, has called on GAF personnel to maintain professionalism and vigilance in the face of rising threats from the Sahel region. He was speaking at the Ghana Military Academy graduation parade for Short Service Commission and Special Duties Course 61 on Friday, 22 November 2024 at the Teshie Whistler Barracks, where he emphasised the need for enhanced security measures along Ghana's northern borders. He also disclosed that the need for enhanced security measures has necessitated the creation of Forward Operating Bases and acquisition of logistics to safeguard the country's borders and promote peace and stability in the region. He added that the graduation parade marked a significant milestone for the newly commissioned officers, who would play a crucial role in addressing the security challenges facing Ghana. Present to grace the occasion were, the Defence Minister Honourable Dominic Nitiwul, Chief of the Defence Staff Lieutenant General Thomas Oppong-Peprah, the Service Chiefs and many high-ranking dignitaries.
