NACOC, NRTS HOLD INDUCTION CEREMONY FOR RECRUITS

The Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC) in collaboration with the Naval Recruit Training School (NRTS) under the Naval Training Command (NAVTRAC), Nutekpor has held an induction ceremony for Basic Narcotics Recruit Course 7 at the NRTS Lecture Hall, on Wednesday 5 February 2025

The Guest of Honour, Director General Narcotics Control Commission, Mr Kenneth Adu Amanfoh expressed his appreciation to the military hierarchy and the leadership and instructors of the NRTS for their unwavering dedication. He described the partnership between NACOC and the Ghana Navy as a collective resolve in strengthening national security and enhancing drug law enforcement capabilities.

He said the mission of NACOC has been to churn out recruits that are vigilant, proactive and committed to preventing, detecting and dismantling drug networks that threaten the national security and public health. He urged the recruits to endure and push forward with unwavering commitment to complete the training successfully.

"Your induction today is not the end but the beginning of a challenging and fulfilling journey. The road ahead will be demanding but the impact of your work will be invaluable. You will be called upon to make difficult decisions, work in high pressure environments and put the safety of others before yourself. I urge you to embrace this responsibility with pride, knowing that you are part of a noble mission to make Ghana a safer place." He added.

The Presiding Magistrate of Dabala District Court, Her Worship Edith L. Dzormeku, reminded the recruits that accountability remains a key pillar of their service, emphasising that they would one day be called to account for their actions and decisions.

In his address, the Commanding Officer of the Naval Recruit Training School, Commander Emilio Okyere-Dadzie, commended the recruits for their endurance and determination over the period. He further encouraged then to be resilient, dedicated and forge a better teamwork to emerge refined and disciplined personnel ready to contribute to national security as the journey ahead remained challenging.

Commander Okyere-Dadzie said the Ghana Navy takes pride in conducting the training and noted that the collaboration underscored a shared responsibility in curbing narcotics flow within Ghana, particularly through the maritime domain.

“We will therefore continue and remain committed in delivering our outmost best to ensure that NACOC has well trained personnel to effectively execute its mandate.” He added.

He reminded the recruits that their pledge to uphold values and laws of NACOC comes with unwavering commitment to duty and national security.

Dignitaries present at the induction were the Flag Officer Commanding (NAVTRAC) Commodore Solomon Asiedu Larbi as well as Directors of the Narcotics Control Commission.
