The General Officer Commanding (GOC) Southern Command, Brigadier General (Brig Gen) Samuel Yeboah Asare embarked on maiden familiarization tour of the 1 Infantry Battalion (1BN) on Wednesday15 November, 2023. He was briefed on the operations, administration, logistics as well as challenges of the command. As part of his itinerary, the GOC toured the detachments at Koforidua and Abetifi to ascertain operational readiness. The tour offered the GOC an opportunity to interact with troops where he commended them for their hard work and dedication to duty. He also advised them to eschew unprofessional behaviours that has the tendency to put the image and reputation of the Command into disrepute. Big Gen Asare cautioned personnel against sports betting, recruitment fraud, social vices and armed robbery, reminding them that those found culpable or guilty of such offences would be delt with in accordance with the law. He urged them to be disciplined, loyal, diligent and professional in the discharge of their duties and assured them of channeling their grievances to the Military High Command.
