The General Officer Commanding (GOC) Northern Command, Brigadier General (Brig Gen) Worlanyo Agbebo has paid a courtesy call on the Bawku Naba and his Council of Elders at Bawku on Tuesday 15 July 2025.

The visit aimed to convey the Military High Command’s apology following the recent hostile firing that led to the demolition of the Zugran statue. He assured of efforts to replace the statue and investigate the incident.

He also condemned the conduct of the youth and appealed to the Bawku Naba and his elders to urge restraint and cooperate with the military to ensure peace in Bawku.

Brig Gen Agbebo reiterated the Ghana Armed Forces’ commitment to professionalism, discipline and respect for civil as well as traditional authorities. He also used the opportunity to express his appreciation to the Bawku Naba for the reception, continuous support and collaborative efforts to help maintain law and order in Bawku.

As part of his visit, the GOC also paid an operational visit to the Joint Task Force (JTF) Unit in Bawku to interact with troops at various detachments. He stressed that professionalism is the bedrock of every soldier and urged troops to remain neutral as well as give their best in restoring peace in Bawku.
