The Chief of the Defence Staff (CDS), Lieutenant General (Lt Gen) Thomas Oppong-Peprah has commended the Armed Forces Medical Corps for their diligent service to personnel and the country. He said this when he visited the 37 Military Hospital and the Armed Forces Critical Care and Emergency Hospital on Monday, 26 February 2024 as part of his maiden visit to Units in the Ghana Armed Forces. The CDS and his entourage were briefed on the administrative, logistics and operational issues of the hospital including the operationalization of the Critical Care and Emergency Hospital. Lt Gen Oppong-Peprah, emphasized his resolve to improve the health and welfare, boost morale and work output of personnel. He underscored the services rendered by the GAF medical Corps were critical since soldiers and officers needed first to be healthy to deliver their mandate. The CDS stated his commitment to ensuring adequate capacity building and training in order to meet the manpower requirement of specialist. He expressed commitment to finding lasting solution to the logistics requirement of the facility to operate effectively. He lauded personnel for their hard work and professionalism and encouraged them to work together to achieve the common vision of the hospital. Among the CDS’ entourage were the Chief of Staff, Maj Gen Joseph Prince Osei-Owusu, Deputy Chief of Staff DCOS (Admin), Air Vice Marshall M Appiah-Agyekum, DCOS (Ops and Training), Maj Gen Aphour, DCOS (Log), Rear Admiral Agyenim-Boateng, DCOS (P &P), Maj Gen Nyarko and DCOS (Med) Maj Gen Ewusi. Others were the Defence Financial Comptroller (DFC), Brigadier General Amissah, Director General Records, Brig Gen Vander-pallen and senior staff officers from the General Headquarters.
