Lieutenant General Thomas Oppong - Peprah commissions high mobility light tactical vehicles and equipment for Ghana Battalion in UNIFIL

The Chief of the Defence Staff, (CDS) Lieutenant General Thomas Oppong - Peprah has commissioned newly inserted Contingent Owned Equipment (COE) at the Kofi Annan Square of the Battalion Headquarters on Wednesday 22 May 2024.

The vehicles and the equipment commissioned for the Ghanaian Battalion (Ghanbatt) serving with the United Nation Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) include 52 High Mobility Light tactical vehicles, a Rosa Mitsubishi Fuso Bus and 1,075 pairs of fragmentation jackets.

The effort was in fulfilment of the requirements of the momoradum of understanding between the United Nations (UN) and the Government of Ghana to enhance the operational efficiency of the Ghanbatt.

The Ghanbatt clergy; Captain Eric Antwi and Lieutenant Abdul-Majeed Shuaib Suleiman dedicated the vehicles for use.

The CDS cut the tape for the vehicles to be deployed for the operational and administrative duties in the operational Area of UNIFIL.

The CDS called for good care and maintenance of vehicles and urged drivers to use the appropriate vehicles at the right time. 

Present were Air Commodore Joseph Adu-Gyamfi, Air Commodore Reginald Yaw Cole, Brigadier General Fuseini Salifu, Col George Abosi Oppong, Lieutenant Colonel Frank Kwesi Agyeman and Wing Commander Ibrahim Anas Eliasu.
