Three Hundred and Three (303) recruits of Basic Infantry Course 3/2023 have passed out at the Jungle Warfare Training School (JWS) at Akim Achiase, Eastern Region on Friday 9 February, 2024. The Reviewing Officer, Brigadier General (Brig Gen) Anthony Ntem, applauded the recruits for their strength and endurance. He stated that within the six months training, the recruits were taken through basic military training that encompassed Physical Training, Tactics, Weapon Training, Drill, Military Law, Map Reading, Field Craft and First Aid to transform them into disciplined, fit, knowledgeable and highly motivated soldiers with a sense of urgency to discharge duties professionally. He reminded them that the military profession was a calling, a daunting task in serving the Nation and not an avenue for persons merely seeking for job employment and advised them to keep all they learnt handy.Brig Gen Ntem asserted that some individuals joined the service with the intent to engage in illegal activities such as debt collection, galamsey, land guard duties, recruitment fraud and other activities which can dent the hard earned reputation of the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) and urged them to guard against such acts since those found culpable would be punished and expelled from the service.He cautioned the young soldiers to desist from the abuse of social media and follow the GAF policy guidelines on the use of social media. He also expressed his appreciation to Nana Otwaesuom Osae Nyampong VI for his benevolence towards the GAF and presented a citation to him to eulogize him. Awards were presented to deserving and hardworking recruits who excelled in the various fields of training. Private (Pte) Ahatse Joshua won the Overall Best Recruit, Pte Boahene Obed won Best in Drill, Pte Marfo Foster won best in Academics, while Pte Boateng Sandra won best Female Recruit.
