46 Students Receive President's Independence Day Awards for BECE Excellence

Ms Abdullah Swaiba of Services Junior High School, Burma Camp has received the President’s Independence Day Award held at the Accra International Conference Centre on Friday 1 March, 2024.

She emerged the best student of La Dade-Kotopon Municipal and part of the 46 students honored for their exceptional performance in the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE)

The prestigious ceremony held under the theme "Our Democracy, Our Pride", President and Commander-in-Chief of the Ghana Armed Forces, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo commended the awardees for their remarkable achievements, emphasizing the importance of education in equipping students with the skills to tackle the world's challenges.

He highlighted the significance of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) education in fostering innovation, job creation, and economic progress. He underscored Ghana's commitment to building a strong foundation in STEM fields to enhance its competitiveness on the global stage.

The C-in-C urged students to seize every opportunity for growth and exploration. He also expressed gratitude to teachers and parents for nurturing their intellect and talent.

He expressed optimism about the future of the country, given the improved performance of students at the basic education level.

President Akufo-Addo urged the awardees to uphold honesty and integrity in all their endeavors, emphasizing those values would guide them towards continued success and contribute to national progress.

He revealed that the award captured 36 public schools and 10 private schools which was the first time the private schools has been included.
