73 MILITARY OFFICERS COMMISSIONED INTO GAF

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has commissioned 73 officer cadets of Short Service Commission and Special Duties (SSC/SD) course 61 at the Ghana Military Academy (GMA) Whistler Barracks, Teshie on Friday 22 November 2024.

The Reviewing Officer, President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo congratulated the cadets, the Military High Command and the dedicated instructors for working assiduously to transform the cadets into military officers.

He underscored that their devotion, sacrifice, and relentless pursuit of excellence has been the cornerstone of the Academy’s enduring legacy. He mentioned that amidst some challenges, the Academy has remained resolute in upholding its mission of producing quality officers for GAF and the country at large.

President Nana Addo said the security situation in the sub-region has become complex and multifaceted hence, urged GAF personnel to remain vigilant, adaptable and prepared to confront these evolving threats with resolve.

He also added that the government has embarked on a progressive expansion of the GAF across all 16 regions of the country. He expressed the government’s commitment to retooling the GAF and improving infrastructure in the Barracks to boost morale and operational efficiencies of personnel.

The President described Ghana as a beacon of peace and stability on the world stage, hence he entreated the cadets to discharge their duties with professionalism and neutrality to ensure the safety and security of all citizens during the upcoming elections

The Overall Best Cadet award went to Junior Under Officer Yaro Mohammed-Keilan. The Best in Tactics award went to Cadet Corporal Wuni Nadia Isabelle while the Commandant award went to Cadet Sergeant Gyamfi Samuel Ameyaw.

The Short Service Commission/ Special Duties Course (SSC/SD) is reserved for professionals such as medical doctors, nurses, midwives, physicians, lawyers, engineers, educationists, clergy, administrators and serving soldiers.
