The Commandant, Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC), Major General (Maj Gen) Bismarck Kwasi Onwona has handed over command to the Deputy Commandant TRADOC, Brigadier General (Brig Gen) Lawrence Gbetanu at the forecourt of the command on Wednesday, 4 October 2023.

Maj Gen Onwona in his farewell address acknowledged that although TRADOC was established from the ashes of MATS and was still a nascent institution facing some basic challenges, the command has initiated several projects in pursuit of the mission and objectives of the command.

Notable amongst these projects are the ongoing development of a handbook by the Department of Research and Doctrine which would serve as an essential guide to the doctrine development process, the formation of a Steering Committee to provide operational-level oversight and direction to Bespoke Doctrine Writing Teams, the commencement of a state-of-the-art office complex for the command.

“Further we successfully signed two Memoranda of Understanding (MOU) to complete the process of affiliating the Engineer Training School and the Clerk Training School to their respective tertiary institution for the award of higher certificates…”, he said.

He thanked the Military High Command for the confidence reposed in him to serve the Armed Forces. He also used the opportunity to urge the personnel of the command not to relent on their oars, but remain professional, committed to duty and also afford the incoming Commandant the needed support in order to realize the vision and mission of TRADOC.

The Chief of Staff at the General Headquarters, Maj Gen Peter Nicholas Andoh on behalf of the Military High Command presented a citation and a plague to Maj Gen Onwona for his dedication to duty.

Brig Gen Lawrence Gbetanu would assume office as the Acting Commandant until the substantive Commandant Rear Admiral Eric Adu returns from overseas assignment.
