The Ghana Military Academy (GMA) has organised a 2-day medical outreach for the people of Waya and Abuadi in the Adaklu District of the Volta Region from 14-15 October, 2023.
The outreach aimed at strengthening Civil-Military Cooperation (CIMIC) between the GMA and the people of Adaklu. The medical test and examinations conducted included Body Mass Index (BMI), Random Diagnostic Test (RDT) for Malaria, Blood Pressure (BP), Hepatitis and Breast Cancer awareness.
In his remarks, Chief Instructor Army at GMA, Col A Caan, indicated that the outreach was conducted to show gratitude to the good people of Adaklu for their cooperation.
A representative of the chief of Adaklu Waya community, Togbe Amafu, beneficiary of the medical outreach, expressed profound gratitude to GMA for the kind gesture. He described it as the best to be experienced in the community, adding that most of the locals hardly go for medical checkups, hence the outreach has benefited a lot of people in the community.
A total of 548 locals benefitted from the service supported by pharmaceutical companies such as Unicom, Unichem, Zultron, Tobinco and Ernest Chemist.
The medical outreach formed part of Exercise Final Fling, the last bush exercise of Regular Career Course 62 and Short Service Commission and Special Duties Intake 60.
