The Ghana Military Academy (GMA) has held tutorial dinner for Cadets of Regular Career Course 62 and Short Service Commission/Special Duties Course 60 at the Cadet Mess, Whistler Barracks, Teshie on Friday 20 October, 2023.
The Guest of Honour, Presidential Advisor for Accra Initiative, Major General (Maj Gen) Francis Adu Amanfoh (Rtd) indicated that the tutorial dinner afforded Cadets the opportunity to practice their Fundamental Officer Training (FOT), experience military dinners, and what would be expected of them during such occasions.
He acknowledged that GMA has earned an enviable reputation for churning out good Officers for the Ghana Armed Forces and neighboring African countries including Burkina Faso, Togo, Guinea, Uganda, Benin and Nigeria.
He noted that many seasoned Officers have expressed misgivings about some of the products of the Academy in recent times and entreated the Commandant GMA, Maj Gen Awity and his instructors to strive to improve upon the standard of training in the face of all challenges.
Maj Gen Adu Amanfoh also implored the Officer Cadets to conduct themselves as worthy Officers upon commissioning, when dealings with the general public members of the security agency.
He disabuses the notion that their commissioning was guaranteed once they entered GMA, since it was only Officer Cadets who passed the qualifying criteria would commission.
