The Ghana Navy has held an end-of-year thanksgiving religious parade at Tema Naval Base under the theme: "Ebenezer, This Is How Far the Lord Has Brought Us" on Sunday 15 December 2024.
Director of Army Religious Affairs, Colonel Peter Nyarko Duodu expressed gratitude to God for His blessings and encouraged personnel to remain thankful and value their families.
Chief of Naval Staff (CNS), Rear Admiral Issah Adam Yakubu, praised the Navy's personnel for their dedication, especially as the year marked the 65th Anniversary of the Ghana Navy. He reflected on God’s grace and acknowledged the strength and resilience shown in overcoming challenges throughout the year.
He highlighted significant accomplishments, including the imminent commissioning of a state-of-the-art ship in a box, improvements to personnel welfare, and strengthening statutory partnerships. Additional milestones included the commissioning of 20 two-bedroom apartments in Takoradi and Ezinlibo Forward Operation Bases as well as the acquisition of the naval ship Achimota, which would arrive from Japan.
Rear Admiral Yakubu commended the professionalism demonstrated during recent elections, which enhanced Ghana’s image as a beacon of hope in Africa. He acknowledged the Navy's resilience in handling maritime security threats and global geopolitical challenges, crediting their success to the collective efforts of all ranks.
The CNS expressed gratitude to God and honoured both serving and retired personnel for their dedicated service, recognizing their sacrifices in ensuring a safer future for the nation.
Rear Admiral Yakubu called for continued prayers for Ghana, seeking peace for the nation and wisdom for the outgoing president and his team, as well as for the president-elect and his administration.
He encouraged personnel to remain vigilant and enhance security measures to avert any potential threats, while fostering goodwill in their communities and reaching out to those less privileged.
The Chief of Naval Staff also expressed his gratitude to the Naval Wives for their steadfast support of and urged all to renew their commitment to serving the nation with honor and integrity as they prepare to embrace the new year.
Additionally, Rear Admiral Yakubu unveiled and dedicated a uniform stole and iodized cross for the clergy, symbolising their sacred duties within the military community and their essential role in supporting the Ghana Navy.
