The Eastern Naval Command (ENC) has celebrated its 2024 West African Soldiers Social Activity (WASSA) on Friday 17 January 2025.

The event featured inter-unit weapon stripping and assembling competition, an integral aspect of military readiness and operational efficiency.

In his remarks the Guest of Honour, Chief of the Naval Staff (CNS) Vice Admiral Issah Adam Yakubu, expressed his gratitude to the ENC for their unwavering dedication and significant contributions to national security, acknowledging the challenges faced.

He underscored the importance of prioritizing education for personal development and the collective enhancement of the Navy.

Vice Admiral Yakubu encouraged personnel to seize opportunities for higher education and to cultivate their skills and proficiency in specialized trades in order to remain relevant, adaptable and prepared for the challenges inherent in their duties. He also highlighted the importance of investing in the education of their children, thereby safeguarding not only their future but also that of the nation.

The CNS commended the Flag Officer Commanding ENC, Commodore Maxwell Arhen, Officers, Ratings, and Defence Civilian Staff, for their varied contributions to the success of the Command. He encouraged them to persist in maintaining and enhancing the high standards established, to achieve greater success in line with the overarching vision of the Ghana Navy.

The event climaxed with the presentation of awards to personnel recognised for their exemplary commitment and contributions to the operational success of the ENC. Dignitaries in attendance included Honourable Isaac Ashai Odamtten, Member of Parliament for Tema East, along with Staff Officers from Naval Headquarters.
