The 4 Infantry Battalion (4Bn) has emerged winner of this year’s Inter Unit Drill Competition organized by Headquarters Central Command at 4Bn parade square on Thursday, 14 December 2023.

The event formed part of the training session for Units under the Command, saw personnel drawn from Headquarters Central Command Camp, 3 and 4 Infantry Battalions (3Bn and 4Bn), and 154 Armoured Regiment put out a spectacular drill display to the admiration of all present including members of the other sister security agencies.

A former GOC Central Command, Brig Gen Joseph Adu Boampong (Rtd), who was the Guest of Honour for the occasion, stated that drill was often been used as a forerunner to great battles. He urged that drills must be encouraged because military discipline was founded on drill, which fosters order and collective discipline to enhance military customs and traditions.

He commended GOC Central Command and other stakeholders for organizing the programme and congratulated the participating units for the dexterity exhibited in splendid performances on the square.

The General Officer Commanding (GOC) Central Command, Brigadier General (Brig Gen) Charles Agyemang-Prempeh indicated that the purpose of the competition was to test the confidence level of troops and their ability to execute words of command in a smart, uniform and timely manner. He added that the competition would also foster esprit de corps among personnel of units under the Central Command.
