Zambian Staff College conducts study tour to understand regional security cooperation and the role of the military in national development

A 14-member delegation from the Zambian Defence Services Command and Staff College are in Ghana for a week-long study tour of the security sector of Ghana from 28 September to 4 October 2025.

The tour, under the theme ‘Understanding Regional Security Cooperation Through Responsive Policies That Recognise the Military as a Catalyst for Self-Reliance, Political and Social Development’, was aimed at deepening understanding of regional security cooperation and the role of the military in national development.

Leader of the Zambian Delegation, Colonel Tyndall Hamane expressed her appreciation to the Ghana Armed Forces for the knowledge shared and is optimistic about collaborations between both nations to enhance regional security and economic growth.

The Director General Human Resources (Personnel and Administration), Air Commodore Thomas Nii Fio Okai stated that the tour would strengthen bilateral military cooperation between Ghana and Zambia as well as promote shared learning and understanding of regional security dynamics.

He encouraged the students to continue to actively engage by asking questions that would clarify doubts and enhance their learning experience even beyond the tour.

The delegation visited several key installations across the Ghana Armed Forces and other national security institutions, where they gained first hand information into the defence operations, civil-military relations, and inter-agency collaboration.
