Captain (Ghana Navy) John Bekuin-Wurapa has taken over as the newly appointed Flag Officer Fleet (FOF) during a ceremony held at the fueling jetty, Naval Base Sekondi on Thursday 16 October 2025.

In his address, the Guest of Honour, Flag Officer Commanding Naval Logistics Command (FOC NAVLOC), Commodore Eric Osei commended the outgoing FOF, Commodore Samuel Ayelazono for maintaining combat readiness and operational excellence in joint exercises and maritime security operations.

He also congratulated the incoming FOF on his appointment expressing optimism that he would continue to uphold the time-tested traditions, adapt, modernize and surmount future challenges with determination and innovation.

Commodore Osei called on personnel to maintain their courage, professionalism and unwavering spirit as these were the defining factors of the operational effectiveness and reputation of the Ghana Navy Fleet.

The outgoing FOF, Commodore Samuel Ayelazono attributed the success of his tenure to resilience, innovation, teamwork and the unwavering support of personnel. He revealed that the excellence of the Navy depended not just on its ships, but also on the character and dedication of those who sailed them.

He therefore implored personnel to rally behind and extend their support to the newly appointed FOF, Naval Captain John Bekuin-Wurapa. He also urged them to continue to uphold core values of loyalty and integrity, as well as remain disciplined, professional and mission-focused.
