The Ghana Battalion (GHANBATT 11) serving with the United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS) has held the Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols Service, amongst other activities to end 2023.The Nine Lessons and Carols Service was held on Friday, 22 December 2023 enabled the companies within the GHANBATT to exhibit their carols singing prowess through a competition, with Alpha Company emerging as the overall best company. During the service, the Commanding Officer, Officer Lieutenant Colonel (Lt Col) Dominic Ampomah appreciated all and sundry for their commitment, professionalism, discipline, hard work and dedication to duty within the period.Thereafter, a Live Band Concert was held to entertain troops. The band played ecstatic songs ranging from highlife, hiplife and afrobeat. Other activities, such as inter-company fun games, fun games between Officers and Warrant Officers were organized to promote unity and esprit de-corps amongst personnel of the GHANBATT. The Commanding Officer, UNMISS GHANBATT 11, Lt Col Dominic Ampomah in his remarks after the Fun Games between the Officers and the Warrant Officers, commended the players for their professionalism, loyalty and astuteness over the period. He reminded them of the important role they play in the GHANBATT and admonished them to continue to lead exemplary lifestyle throughout the tour. He also encouraged them to offer guidance to the younger ones at all times. As part of events to draw down the curtain on the year was the Officers end of year dinner where Lt Col Dominic Ampomah appreciated all appointment holders for their ingenuity and hard work towards GHANBATT’s success. He urged all and sundry to keep up the good work and maintain high standards of discipline and professionalism at all times. Some of the guests present at event were Chief Superintendent Apaloo who represented the Ghana Formed Police (GhanFPU) Commanding Officer, Officers from GhanFPU, UNMISS staff, the Regimental Sergeant Major (RSM) and Company Sergeant Majors (CSMs).
