The Army Peace Operations Training School (APOTS) has organized a closing ceremony for the Ghana Battalion 92 (GHANBATT 92) under the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) upon the completion of their pre-deployment training. The closing ceremony took place on Friday, 22 August 2025 at the premises of the school at Bundase. The Guest of Honour for the occasion, Commander Army Training Command (ATRAC) Brigadier General (Brig Gen) Joshua Amanor emphasized that the training was essential to meeting international peacekeeping standards. He described APOTS as a strategic national asset and noted that it had trained over five thousand (5000) personnel in the past four (4) years with twelve percent (12%) female participation, a benchmark recognised by the United Nations. He urged the battalion to maintain professionalism and teamwork. He said, “your performance is vital not only to the mission’s success but also to sustaining Ghana’s esteemed reputation in global peacekeeping”. At the battalion’s end-of-training get-together, Guest of Honour, Commander Army Special Operations Brigade (ASOB) Brigadier General Richard Mensah congratulated the troops for their commitment, sacrifice, and professionalism throughout the exercise. He also acknowledged the renovation of an accommodation block at the school, funded by Mr Twum Barima. The Commanding Officer UNIFIL GHANBATT 92, Lieutenant Colonel Evans Yaw Kumedjah expressed confidence in his troops, affirming their readiness to undertake the mission’s mandate. The get-together concluded with team competitions, including weapon handling and uniform donning drills. Alpha Company emerged best overall, followed by Headquarters, Charlie, and Bravo Companies.
