A high-powered security delegation has visited communities affected by the recent clashes in the Sawla-Tuna-Kalba and Bole Districts on Tuesday, 26 August 2025 to assess the situation and engage traditional authorities towards restoring calm.

The delegation was made up of the Savannah Regional Minister, Hon Salisu Be-Awuribe, Inspector General of Police (IGP), Mr Christian Tetteh Yohunu, General Officer Commanding Northern Command (GOC), Brigadier General Worlanyo Agbebo and the Director General of the National Intelligence Bureau (NIB), Mr Kipo Alhassan.

As part of the visit, the delegation called on the Yagbonwura, Sawlawura and Kalbawura at their respective palaces to express condolences to the bereaved families and reaffirmed the commitment of government to finding a peaceful resolution to the disturbances. The team also visited Gbeneyiri village and the Saru crossing point.

The Chiefs, while recounting their version of events, requested the immediate establishment of a police station at Kalba to enhance long-term security.

In response, GOC and IGP assured the Chiefs and community members that their concerns would be addressed accordingly. They urged all parties, particularly the youth, to exercise restraint while investigations continue. The Kalbawura, who tragically lost a son during the clashes, was assured of support of government and encouraged to remain calm as security forces intensify efforts to maintain peace and order.
