Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) School of Ordnance has held an opening ceremony for its First Half Courses for 2024 on Thursday 25 December, 2024.The 24 weeks course which has attracted 262 personnel including Defence Civilian Staff, aims at enhancing their skills in store management, tailoring, and leather crafting to meet the human resource capacity of GAF. The Guest of Honour and Assistant Commandant of Tri-Service Training School, Training and Doctrine Command, Colonel Lloyd Kwaku Atror, said GAF's annual training courses has been designed for both troops and civilian staff. He encouraged participants to strive for excellence since their career progression in the Armed Forces was directly linked to their performance on such courses.He emphasized the importance of maintaining discipline and good behavior and at all times. ‘Let me also advise you to be punctual to class and make conscious efforts to learn and apply your acquired knowledge wherever you may find yourselves after the course’, he added. The Commanding Officer (CO), School of Ordnance, Lieutenant Colonel Edna Antwi, attributed the historical increase in the enrollment rate to the operationalization of new units within GAF. She requested Higher Command to expedite relocation the school to position it well for training and practical work.She added the school offers Diploma courses in Procurement, Supply Chain Management, and Fashion Design, SINCE it has been affiliated to the Accra Technical University (ATU). She also emphasized the importance of discipline and professionalism in ensuring the smooth running of the course, expressing optimism in meeting her expectations for the course.She expressed gratitude to the Military High Command for the continuous support and assistance in transforming the school into a center of excellence in logistics management and vocational training in GAF.
