The National Film Authority (NFA) has pledged its commitment to partner with the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) in its effort to promote and facilitate film production in the Ghana film industry for national development.

The Authority made this pledge during a visit by the Head of Production (HOP) at the NFA, Madam Gyasiwa Ansah to the Chief of the Defence Staff (CDS) Vice Admiral Seth Amoama at his office in Burma Camp on Thursday, 6 July 2023.

The visit is part of the Authority’s stakeholder engagement with Security Agencies aimed at providing a framework for filmmakers to produce films that conform with security standards

According the HOP, the NFA under the Ministry of Tourism was set up by the Government of Ghana three years ago under Act 935 to promote and streamline the ecosystem of film industry in Ghana. She stated that the NFA was committed to working with all its stakeholders including GAF to ensure that Ghana is well positioned on the global landscape as a progressive nation with a strong drive to advance high-quality productions to appeal to a global market. She hoped the Authority and the GAF would be able to draw up and sign a Memorandum of Understanding to facilitate this partnership.

The CDS on his part said GAF primarily exist to defend and protect Ghana’s territorial integrity and also protect the country against any external aggression and that it was welcoming to partner with the NFA to help advance the Socio-Economic Development of Ghana.

Vice Admiral Amoama indicated that the aim of the Authority to make the Ghanaian populace understand the operations and nature of GAF through movies, was in line with his vision of making GAF to become highly professional, cohesive, modernized, formidable and responsive armed forces with a posture to deter any contemporary threat to the nation emanating from within or external forces.

He commended the leadership of the Authority for bringing up the initiative and assured them of the Military High Command’s willingness to supporting the Authority. He presented a plaque to the HOP to cement the bond of relationship between the two institutions.
