France and Ghana Armed Forces discuss ways to enhance collaboration

The Director of Security and Defence Cooperation at the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Le General Regis Colcombe, has led a delegation to pay a courtesy call on the Chief of the Defence Staff, Lieutenant General Thomas Oppong-Peprah, at the General Headquarters on Thursday, 31 October 2024.

The General was in the CDS office to discuss ways to enhance collaboration with the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF), especially on training specialists in all domains from the Army, Navy, and Air Force, and to give a briefing on the network of Regional Orientated Schools in Africa sponsored by the French Armed Forces (FAR).

The Chief of the Naval Staff, Rear Admiral Issah Yakubu, welcomed the entourage on behalf of the CDS and expressed gratitude for the visit. He acknowledged the long-standing strong relationship between GAF and FAR and sought further collaboration.

The French Defence Attache to Ghana, Colonel Gregoire Madelin highlighted that the French Chief of the Defence Staff, General Thierry Burkhard expressed his concern to GAF for recent events in the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon therefore pledging the French Armed Forces’ strong support to GAF.
