The Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Training Centre (KAIPTC) has launched an online Gender Advisors course for Ghana Armed Forces personnel on Monday 21 October 2024.

The 21-day self-paced course aims to educate participants about gender mainstreaming to enhance their skills and knowledge, with particular emphasis on roles, responsibilities, toolkits, and resistance handling. The course enhances participants’ ability to support gender mainstreaming in organizations.

Gender Policy Advisor to the Chief of the Defence Staff, Group Captain Theodora Agornyo, urged participants to deepen their knowledge and skills in gender mainstreaming subjects.

She praised the Government of Ghana for sponsoring the online course through Global Affairs Canada and the Elsie Initiative, acknowledging their unwavering support to GAF on gender policies and mainstreaming.

The Gender Policy Advisor further lauded the Canadian Government’s Elsie Initiative Fund for assisting GAF in building 200-bed accommodation for female recruits at the Army Recruits Training School and Daboya, to promote female recruitment through the Combat Support Unit nationwide.
