The Chief of the Defence Staff (CDS), Lieutenant General Thomas Oppong-Peprah, has emphasised the need to improve collaborative efforts between the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) and the United States Military to address security challenges in West Africa.

The CDS made this remark during a meeting with the US Army Chief of Staff at the Association of the United States Army’s (AUSA) Annual Meeting and Exposition in Washington DC on Monday 14 October 2024.

The three-day event, held under the theme “Transforming for a Complex World,” attracted over thirty-three thousand (33,000) attendees from across the globe. It featured more than 775 exhibitions, professional development fora, and panel discussions.

Lieutenant General Oppong-Peprah also met with Major General Andrew C. Gainey, Commanding General of the US Army Southern European Task Force, Africa (SETAF-AF), where they explored innovative ways to enhance training and other areas of mutual interest.

Later, the CDS held a meeting with Colonel William Ackah from the US Army War College, who was also attending the exposition.
