Headquarters Northern Command has celebrated the West African Soldiers Social Activity (WASSA) on Friday 26 January, 2024.The event brought together Officers, Soldiers, families, friends and other distinguished invited guests to celebrate the achievements of the Command as well as make projections for the year ahead in a relaxed atmosphere with music provided by renowned Ghanaian highlife artiste Bisa Kdei. In a welcome address, the Command Operations Officer, Colonel Franklyn Worlanyo Kwasi Agbebo on behalf of the General Officer Commanding Northern Command, Brigadier General Matthew Kweku Essien commended troops for keeping the front lines along the Northern borders and other parts of the Command’s Area of Responsibility safe. The Guest of Honour for the occasion, Sagnari Naa, His Majesty Ambassador Yakubu Abdulai expressed gratitude for being part of the occasion. He stated that he has keenly followed the contributions and efforts of the Command in maintaining peace and stability within the 5 Northern Regions. He called on the Regional Security Council to empower state agencies to get involved in the anti-drugs initiative, assuring them of the support of the Chiefs and traditional authorities.Ambassador Yakubu Abdulai further commended the troops of Northern Command for their resilience to stand up any time to deal with any suspicion of terrorism. He added that the recent donation of armoured vehicles and ambulances by the European Union and United Kingdom would go a long way to enhance the effectiveness of their operations.
