The visit was to officially notify the Zung Lana of the end of his term as the GOC and introduce the incoming GOC, Brigadier General Frank Tei to him. The Zung Lana conveyed his appreciation for the visit and promised to do his part in ensuring peace and stability in the region. 
The outgoing General Officer Commanding (GOC) Northen Command Major General Matthew Essien paid a courtesy call on the Zung Lana, Honourable Colonel Mahamoud Tahiru (Rtd) at his palace on Monday 11 March, 2024.
