The Regional Security and Armed Forces Delegate at the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), General Hany Nakhleh (Rtd) has called on the Military High Command to introduce International Humanitarian Law (IHL) into its disciplines.

He made this clarion call when he visited the Chief of the Defence Staff (CDS), Vice Admiral Seth Amoama at Burma Camp on Wednesday, 29 November 2023.

General Nakhleh outlined the key roles ICRC undertake to include assisting victims of war and internal violence, promoting and strengthening humanitarian laws and principles.

He extended invitation to GAF to participate in various ICRC courses to foster a shared understanding of humanitarian principles and further strengthen the collaboration between GAF and ICRC.

Vice Admiral Amoama acknowledged the global impact of ICRC since its establishment in 1863 and appreciated the efforts of ICRC. He assured General Hany Nakhleh about the commitment of GAF to incorporating the International Humanitarian Law into its training programmes, expressing interest in sponsorship opportunities towards mitigating the adverse impacts of conflicts.
