Commandant, Ghana Armed Forces Command and Staff College (GAFCSC), Major General (Maj Gen) Matthew Essien has extended invitation to the Council of State in respect of the Republic Day Lecture scheduled for 1 July. He invited the Council of State during a courtesy call on the Chairman Nana Otuo Siriboe II at the Accra International Conference Centre on Wednesday 26 June, 2024. According to Gen Essien, the lecture would be held under the theme "Reflections on Democratic Control Over the Military and the Way Forward for Sustainability", adding that it would feature Mr Francis Poku (Esq), Ambassador Josephine Nkrumah, and Prof Kwasi Aning among others. The Commandant emphasised the importance of strengthening military-civilian relationships and indicated plans to make the lecture an annual event, possibly rotating it regionally. Nana Otuo Siriboe II expressed gratitude for the visit and encouraged collaborations and periodic lectures at the various military barracks to engage personnel and civilians.
