Forces Pay Regiment has emerged as the winner of the inter-unit drill competition organised by Headquarters Support Services Command (HQ SP SVCS COMD) on Thursday, 17 October 2024. The competition saw participation from various units, including the Ghana Military Police, HQ SP SVCS, GHQ (Camp), Base Workshop, Forces Pay Regiment, Armed Forces Central Band, HQ SVC Command Camp, the 49 Engineers Regiment, the Supply and Transport Unit, the 419 Signal Regiment, and the Base Ordnance Depot.Speaking at the event, the Guest of Honour, Commandant of the Ghana Armed Forces Command and Staff College (GAFCSC), Major General Matthew Essien, emphasised the significance of drill exercises in maintaining military discipline and preparing soldiers for future operations. He encouraged continuous drill practice to foster order, discipline, and adherence to military customs and traditions. Major General Essien urged soldiers to conduct themselves professionally, especially during the upcoming general elections, stressing the importance of peace and stability. He also expressed concern over recent incidents involving soldiers in recruitment and fraud cases, highlighting the need for integrity to maintain public trust. He commended the HQ SP SVCS Commander and the organisers for their efforts and congratulated all participating units on their excellent performances.Commander of HQ SP SVCS COMD, Brigadier General Selassie Gagakuma, described drill as the “soul” of an effective Armed Forces. He noted that the competition assessed the confidence of troops and their ability to execute commands accurately and promptly.
