The Department of Public Relations (DPR), under the auspices of the Military High Command, organised a two-day cadre on ethical reporting for journalists at the Chief of the Defence Staff’s Conference Room from 27 to 28 November 2024.The cadre featured seasoned resource persons who shared knowledge and engaged participants in their respective specialties to promote accuracy and professionalism in report and story writing. Participants, including members of the Defence Press Corps and Military Journalists, were enlightened on topics such as the role of the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) in internal security operations, rank structure, military dress regulations, the legal implications of impersonation and unauthorised use of military attire, identifying and addressing misinformation and disinformation, adherence to journalism ethics, and other areas of interest to GAF and journalists. Speaking at the event, the Guest of Honour, Deputy Chief of Staff Administration (Admin) at the General Headquarters, Air Vice Marshal Felix Adom, commended the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) for upholding professionalism. He also urged the association to foster transparency, build trust, and counter misinformation and disinformation.The Director-General of the Department of Public Relations (DPR), Brigadier General Eric Aggrey-Quashie, who supervised the cadre, advised journalists to verify the authenticity of information, adhere to ground rules when covering events, and exercise caution in their reportage. Facilitators for the cadre include the Director of Land Operations, Colonel DNK Adjetey, Director of Corporate and Public Affairs, Naval Captain Michael Addo Larbi, Legal Officer from General Headquarters, Mr Hafiz Sulemana, Assistant Director of Protocol Major Maxwell Asola-Fadola and Editor-in-Chief of the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation and Secretary of the GJA, Mr Dominic Hlodzi.
