The Director General Ghana Maritime Authority (GMA), Captain (GN) Ali Kamal-Deen (Rtd) has paid a courtesy visit to the Chief of the Defence Staff (CDS), Lieutenant General (Lt Gen) William Agyapong at the General Headquarters on Friday 1 August 2025.
The visit was to congratulate the CDS on his appointment and to explore potential areas of collaboration between the two institutions for mutual benefit. Captain (GN) Kamal-Deen (Rtd) emphasised the vital role the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) plays in supporting the effectiveness of GMA.
He therefore called for increased collaboration between both institutions particularly in areas of maritime security and safety.
Captain (GN) Kamal-Deen (Rtd) highlighted the importance of joint efforts to combat piracy, illegal fishing, and other maritime crimes as well as ensuring the safety of navigation and the protection of marine resources.
On his part, Lt Gen Agyapong appreciated Captain (GN) Kamal-Deen for the visit. He acknowledged the crucial role of maritime security in national development and affirmed that GAF will work closely with the GMA to achieve its objectives.
