The Commandant Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Training Centre (KAIPTC), Major General Addo Gyane has paid a visit to the Chief of the Defence Staff (CDS) of The Gambia Armed Forces (GAF), Lieutenant General (Lt Gen) Mamat O Cham.Major General Addo Gyane who was in The Gambia for in-mission training organised by KAIPTC in collaboration with the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), for Staff Officers and Gambian Defence and Security Forces (GDSF) Officers. He later visited and interacted with Ghanaian troops at the Barra Camp, where he urged them to cultivate a conducive environment necessary for them to give off their best emphasising team work. In their brief interaction at the Gambian Defence Headquarters in Banjul, Major General Gyane extended the compliments of the Chief of the Defence Staff of the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF), Lt Gen Thomas Oppong Preprah and the Military High Command. He expressed his desire for collaborative efforts between GAF and the Ghanaian contingent towards the restoration of stability to The Gambia.The Commandant noted that Officers from The Gambia Armed Forces were beneficiaries of the In-Mission Training that was running at the time of the visit, a gesture he believed would go a long way in enhancing the existing relations between the GAF and KAIPTC. Lt Gen Cham expressed his appreciation for the visit and applauded the professional conduct of Ghanaian troops in the Mission. With the Ghanaian Company (GHANCOY 8), currently deployed in his hometown, he emphasized the keen interest he had taken in their operations as part of Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) Mission in The Gambia (ECOMIG).He highlighted a number of key areas that the Ghana Armed Forces could support The Gambia Armed Forces in – preparations towards Gambians 60th Independence Anniversary Parade, construction of a military range and training support in key disciplines.The Commandant also paid a visit to the Ghanaian troop at Barra Camp to briefly interact with them.
