Head of the Department for Bilateral Military Cooperation at the German Ministry of Defence, Colonel Holger Leukert has introduced the newly appointed German Defence Attaché to Ghana, Lieutenant Colonel Gerstenecker, to the Chief of the Defence Staff (CDS) on Wednesday 9 October 2024. The Chief of the Naval Staff, Rear Admiral Issah Adam Yakubu, received the delegation on behalf of the CDS Lieutenant General Thomas Oppong-Peprah. The visit aimed to strengthen bilateral cooperation and enhance security collaboration between the two institutions. Rear Admiral Yakubu, acknowledged the significant contributions of the German Armed Forces Technical Advisory Group (GAFTAG) to the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF). He highlighted key areas of assistance, including intelligence sharing, logistics and training, and expressed appreciation for GAFTAG’s ongoing support, calling for further collaboration.
