Chief of the Army Staff (COAS), Major General (Maj Gen) Bismarck Kwasi Onwona has commissioned a mosque in the Artillery Training School during his maiden visit on Thursday 14 March, 2024.

He expressed joy to be part of the commissioning and indicated that the mosque embodies the spirit of solidarity and brotherhood that binds personnel together in service to the nation. He reaffirmed that personnel should be dedicated to fostering an environment where every individual felt valued and respected regardless of their faith.

Maj Gen Onwona was optimistic that the Mosque would serve as a sanctuary of peace and love for all and should be a place where personnel find solace in times of struggle, and inspiration in times of triumph.

The COAS also appreciated the sponsors for their heartedness and willingness to single handedly construct the mosque for the Artillery Training School. He also admonished all to take good care of the mosque and keep it in good shape at all times.

Earlier, Commanding Officer of the Training School, Lieutenant Colonel (Lt Col) Patrick Atuiri, in his opening remarks indicated that the project was necessitated by the challenges that Muslims had to go through to find space for the performance of their religious obligation. This, he said, was due constrain for space for offices, classrooms and accommodation.

According to him, an appeal was made to civil societies and organisations for a mosque, which prompted the Hussan Development Limited to construct the facility.

The commissioning was also graced by the General Officer Commanding Southern Command, Brigadier General Samuel Yeboah Asare, the Commander Army Training Command, Brigadier General Stephen Kweku Parbey and Staff Officers at Army and Southern Command Headquarters.

The Commander Rear 66 Artillery Regiment Lt Col Jalali Din Ibrahim and the CEO of Hussan Development Ltd, Alhaji Hussan Abubakar were also present at the commissioning ceremony.
