Ghana’s Chief of the Defence Staff (CDS), Lieutenant General Thomas Oppong-Peprah, has led a high-ranking military delegation to the opening ceremony of the 2nd edition of the African Military Games in Abuja, Nigeria, on Wednesday, 20 November 2024.The spectacular ceremony, held at the Moshood Abiola Stadium, featured impressive cultural displays and inspiring speeches that set the tone for the games.

The event, aimed at fostering unity, collaboration, and camaraderie among African military forces, attracted over 30 African nations and 3,000 athletes competing in 15 sporting disciplines.

As part of the itinerary, Lieutenant General Oppong-Peprah and his delegation paid a courtesy call on Nigeria’s Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Gwabin Musa, at the Defence Headquarters in Abuja. During the meeting, the two leaders discussed strategies to strengthen regional security and enhance cooperation between their respective armed forces.

Members of the CDS’s entourage included the Chief of the Naval Staff, Rear Admiral Issah Yakubu, Directors General and senior officers from the General Headquarters.
